The Barflies Message Board

Welcome to the Barflies Group Message Board. We encourage all alcoholics to share their experience, strength and hope in a way that is conducive to AA’s primary purpose, which is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.

PLEASE NOTICE: the Barflies Group maintains the right to block disruptive users and delete posts/replies that do not support our primary purpose as stated above or that we deem harmful to alcoholics. We truly want this board to be yet one more way for alcoholics to help one another, and we want it to be a safe place to go, should the need arise. With that said, we will do all we possibly can to maintain the integrity of the board.

Finished with A six pack of cold ones - posted by jda at 02/09 11:45AM
God was everything yesterday. Finished my travels at 2am with a six pack of cold donuts and coffee. I found myself yesterday without the obsession for the first time in a while. It was a nice break from the white knuckling that has been going on lately. Currently I am in a very remote place…Nebraska City Nebraska. It is cold with much snow on the ground. I am staying at a lodge with a nice bar…The story in the big book about the sound of the music and “gay chatter” emanating from the bar….yep…all right here for the taking.

Don’t want that today…not now. Just want to live. I am tired of the battle. Tired of the obsession, tired of drama…tired. Not in any dilusion that my obsession wont return. It will. Just nice to have the break. Looked up meetings in the area and there appears to be one here at around 7:30 pm. The only one for 40 miles. My cell phone doesn’t get reception at the hotel. Feeling pretty cut of which is why I am posting here on this website. I think I managed a text to Jason L today but not sure it got sent. Anyway, a very cool place, the Lied Lodge is where I am staying. Kinda log cabiny

Hey JDA,

A snowy, log cabiny lodge in Nebraska? Donuts and coffee? No cell phones? No obsession? I think you died and went to heaven.

If you've got a Big Book in your suitcase, all that's missing is a roaring fire!

Jealous,
Norma

While we hope that all our guests share their experience as it relates to the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, we remind everyone that the contents of these message strings are strictly personal opinions of the authors. When in doubt about the nature of statements made please consult the Big Book and other AA reference materials... our motto: "If its not in the book, it doesn't count." Thank you all for sharing.
