The Barflies Message Board
Welcome to the Barflies Group Message Board. We encourage all alcoholics to share their experience, strength and hope in a way that is conducive to AA’s primary purpose, which is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.
PLEASE NOTICE: the Barflies Group maintains the right to block disruptive users and delete posts/replies that do not support our primary purpose as stated above or that we deem harmful to alcoholics. We truly want this board to be yet one more way for alcoholics to help one another, and we want it to be a safe place to go, should the need arise. With that said, we will do all we possibly can to maintain the integrity of the board.

New Meeting
- posted by PM at 02/03 11:08AM
Morning Barflies! As some of you are aware I'm putting together a crew to discuss the formation of a new closed meeting for Thursday nights. There is always the question of where to have it and what to call it so I thought I'd throw it out there to see if any of you had some good ideas about that. If so then post away!

Make it a smoking meeting. There are really no smoking meetings anymore. Need to find a location that allows for that. Possibly a North Street meeting like the 3 legs used to be.

I think it would be awesome if it was at Club 12, the Masque, or that Church on Old Hammond across from Tara, not where Unmanageables meet. That's in the center and oh so close!
It should be called Happy, Joyous, and Free. Just kidding, how bout Brothers in our Defects, or maybe As Paul Sees it. I kid, not about the BIOD. Um, what about Pain is the touchstone?
Out of ideas, but tell me when and where and I'll be there.

...that would be cool, except for all the ex smokers that frequent AA. I'm still smoking and don't care, but some might. Anders, how bout your house to save on rent and smoke it up?

There are 10 billion ex smoker meetings out there. As far as I am aware, there are really no smoking meetings anymore. No houses. It has to be a public building. Again, there are some rentals on North St. we used to use for the 3 legs meetings. Maybe one of those is available. Bad area but does meet the whole easy access for drunks critera.

I think that a new closed meeting on Thursday would be great. I went to the club last night and only one person shared on the topic. They were discussing how AA is a dying group . . . reckon so. Nowadays, it seems to stay focused on the topic.
I would really love to be able to hit more meetings a week that are structured around alcoholism.
Sorry, I do not have much feedback on where the possible locations could be for the meeting. I am excited to be able to attend.
You go boys!

Hey all you barflies!
Hmmm... getting a little creative on the new names here but not really inducing much hope. haha
Firewater; The Jitters; Liquid Courage; Booze Hounds; Barleycorn; Derelicts; Drunkards..... maybe Rot-gut... think Gastric Hemorrhage is too morbid???
and as far as meeting places... well i need to think about that a while.
